Jean Cocteau - A Feature Documentary Film
2024 has already been a very busy year for me, and one of my biggest works is the music for a feature documentary about the queer French poet, artist & playwright, Jean Cocteau. This film will intimately uncover the relationship between his life and art.
Working with New York-based director Lisa Immordino Vreeland, known for her artist portrait documentaries including Peggy Guggenheim and her Mother in Law Diana Vreeland - The Eye Has to Travel. Featuring a large amount of strings, winds and electronics, the soundtrack for this film is romantic & enigmatic in a fusion of classical and contemporary sounds. The score will be released later this year and features over one hour of music!
I have very much fallen in love with Jean Cocteau over the course of scoring this film, and I think those who watch it will too. His thoughts on life and work transcend time and feel as relevant today as they were back in his lifetime.
