Hansel and Gretel - Premiere success!

Hansel and Gretel is complete, and premiered last week in Wellington at the Opera House.

It was performed by Orchestra Wellington under the baton of Hamish McKeich. I am thrilled with the production and will be following it to Christchurch and Auckland to hear it played by the regional orchestras there. Here is a lovely Review from the dominion Post from opening night.

This ballet is the first work of this scale I have attempted and it was by no means an easy task to pull off. I couldn’t have done it without my team of helpers - Copyists, transcriptionists, engravers and Jazz advisors/improvisers. Thank you to Louisa Nicklin, Rachel Grimwood, Andreas Haberlin, Mark Baynes and Lewis McCallum. Thank you also to Christine Pearce, the music librarian of the RNZB.

Here is a television piece about it’s creation.

I’m so lucky to have met Loughlan and be invited to contribute to this show. It has been the highlight of my career thus far. Here’s to many more ballets!
