Vancouver International Film Festival Composer Program

I recently found out I had been offered a place into the CFA program as part of the Vancouver International Film Festival. There are 12 composers accepted worldwide. I am the first from New Zealand.

Curated by renowned composer Miriam Cutler, the CFA program is an intensive, practical experience and a unique opportunity to work alongside filmmakers while receiving mentorship and guidance from industry professionals.

The CFA is designed for professional composers who are already working in the media space and equip them with the experience needed to take the next step in their career.”

As part of the program I have to take part in 4 online sessions and an 8 day in person program during which we record a new piece of film score with a small orchestra and workshop the compositions. I’ve had two online sessions already and am so looking forward to being in the room with everybody and talking all the nitty gritty about film music and the composer’s craft!
