Hansel and Gretel

Over the past year I have been working on a ballet score for the Royal NZ Ballet’s Christmas production of Hansel and Gretel. Choreographed by Loughlan Prior, and designed by Kate Hawley, this show takes it’s inspiration from early cinema and 1920’s Germany. Heavily symbolic and straying far from realism, the set and costumes bring to life the dreamlike world of sugar, spice and gingerbread, heralded in by the evil ice-cream wielding Witch! Gingerbread will never be the same again.

Composed for a 50 piece orchestra and performed live by NZ’s top regional orchestras, the show will tour NZ in November and December 2019. This commission marks the first full length ballet to be written by a woman composer in NZ! Buy tickets here.
